Paul,
Funny you should ask!
The software that you speak of is called LEWICE and I had just gotten back
from a workshop that was held at NASA Glenn Research center in Cleveland,
OH. The two day workshop to receive the latest version (v2.0) and have a
bit of training. The workshop is held only every 3 year or when there is a
major release. Information on LEWICE can be found at:
http://icebox.lerc.nasa.gov/LEWICE/index.html

The new version has gone through some extensive validation (a 2 CDROM set
with report and results were also handed out at the workshop).

Subject: Runback Ice Accumulation
Hello list,
Does anyone have any information regarding a software that
will
produce Ice formations on aircraft surfaces based on parameter
inputs? A
while back I thought I read a posting about NASA using such a
program to
develop Ice shapes for some of their wind tunnel testing. Any
assistance
would be appreciated.
Thank you.
